Mumbai, June 7, 2011: Capitalising on the improvement in Global Business environment and the Holiday Season, Jet Airways Group created history in the Indian aviation industry by flying a record 2 million guests in May 2011. This marks the highest number of passengers carried by any airline of Indian origin on its domestic and international network.
Jet Airways flew a record 1.55 million guests on its domestic and international network; while JetLite flew an equally impressive 0.47 million guests to assist the Jet Airways Group log this truly unique milestone in the Indian Aviation sector.
In the domestic market, the annual holiday season lifted domestic passenger traffic for Jet Airways by 17%, as compared to the same period last year. The growth in International passenger traffic saw a similar 17% increase, reflecting a growing passenger demand for the airline’s award-winning International product, not to mention the increasing impact of Jet Airways’ International codeshares and introduction of new routes as well as strategic marketing and network initiatives.
