Guwahati: Assam BJP Mahila Morch on Wednesday filed FIR against senior Congress leader Rana Goswami for alleged derogatory remark against BJP women karyakartas.
The compliant was filed at Dispur police station on Wednesday.
In the complaint filed by BJP Spokesperson Janki Khound has alleged that Goswami had stated that “women karyakartas of BJP are living together with other person in spite of having their husband”.
The incident came to light after Rana Goswami made some comments during a press conference where he had allegedly said that women were not safe in the BJP.
Besides, Rana Goswami had purportedly said that women in BJP had illicit relationship with men.
On April 24, Rana Goswami, Working President of APCC addressed a press conference in Sivsagar Town and intentionally insulted, defame, outrage the modesty of the women Karyakarta of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and stated that “the women Karyakarta of BJP are living together (cohabitation) with other person in spite of having their husband” along with some other obscene language.The aforesaid false statements were widely published in the print media and other form of publications. The women Karyakarta of BIP felt tremendous insult and it may lead to breach of peace of their family life and it defames their image in the society and outrages their modesty,” stated Juri Sharma Bordoloi, senior BJP leader.
“We will raise our voice against Rana Goswami and demand his arrest for giving such derogatory remark against BJP women karyakartas. The women have always been insulted in Congres. Recently, we have seen how Assam Youth Congress president Angkita Dutta was insulted by the Congress leadership,” Bordoloi stated.
On the other hand, Assam unit of BJP also filed compliant against Rana Goswami.
