Kandla Port Trust Employees Welfare Association has been requesting/demanding for allocation of residential plot for remaining employees since 2008, Association carried out a dharna and fasting and subsequently KPT Board of Trustees passed resolution in 2009 and it was decided by the board that as per earlier three schemes, a new scheme is to be made and the same is to be sent to ministry, so after passing such a board resolution, scheme was sent to ministry, and Association consistently perused the case/file.
In the month of December 2014 KPT sent reminder to Shipping ministry and still there is no reply/approval.
Ministry or Govt board trustee is of the view that this scheme for employees to be incorporated with Gandhidham Land Policy, Where as GLP pertains to individual entities, where as this scheme pertains to employees only.
There are certain vested interests from Gandhidham who somehow don’t want this scheme to get approved as those land mafias and land dalals fears that land prices may go down if about 1000/1200 employees are allotted plots,
The Association Secretary after giving proper notices to various authorities, decided to go on indefinite hunger strike (FAST UNTO DEATH) till the matter gets resolved.
Shri Nitin Shah is on FAST UNTO DEATH and today is the 8th day of FAST i.e. 12th March, 2015.
